  1. Then I will try to sort out my mix to two pure colonies. The seller told me it might contain nymphs of surinamensis so I have to start sorting. Will keep the mixed colony for feeder purpose.
  2. Then I will try to sort them out. Nigra is all black? Then I probably have most of them right now, no brown adults here ? /Henke
  3. Why do they out-compete the P. nigra? If they have plenty of food and everything they should get the same ammount of food, water, hiding places etc or is the P. surinamensis faster?
  4. So if I keep them as a feeder roach this doesn't really matter and I can create a "clean" colony by taking the black with red legs to a separate container later then? Not sure why they are mixed, probably because they need the exact same care and are same size etc but I'm a little bit picky of clean colonies some times so I will try to create two separate colonies later. My hissers are mainly for my own pleasure but these little girls will serve as a food for my T:s but also for my own viewing pleasure. They are in peat at the moment so it's a little bit hard to see them all the time if you don't put your hands in and disturb them. /Henke
  5. My new colony of P. nigra is not pure P. nigra, it contains alot of P. surinamensis. How do I tell them apart? Does it matter that I have a mixed colony? They don't cross breed since they don't have males, right? /Henke
  6. Nice to know that they can't survive and make new roaches I will try the lime and/or PTFE solution, the only thing I risk now is that the hissers sounds to much for my wife to cope with them and that some sensitive guests might find a cockroach on a road trip Maybe my tarantulas can escape at the same time so they can hund in a more natural fashion? /Henke
  7. Hi, New to forum, not new to non climing roaches but now I'm going to keep climbers so I need advice Species I will get is P. nigra and G. oblongonata and they will be kept in smartstore classic boxes with vented lids etc. How do you prevent escapes from them and what could happen if they do escape from the box? Someone opened my daughter's tarantula cage so she (the tarantula) took a sight seeing in our house Lucky me my parents didn't visit us during the escape. So I do know bad things can happens but how do I avoid escapes from roaches that climb and how bad can it be if any of these species do escape? Can they create an infestation of my home or will they die off due to low temperatures etc? Even if they climb they will have a hard time finding food they like so there is not much to feed on if an escape will happen. As a barrier right now I will use lime and/or PTFE spray not sure if I have to use booth. One thing is sure, my wife will kill me twice if they do escape /Henke
