Panchlora sp. "Costa Rica Yellow"
Blaberus Craniifer replied to Hisserdude's topic in Cockroach Photo Gallery
ooh those are some pretty roaches -
So I recently went to Disneyland and found this smushed roach in the California Adventure park and then I found another unfortunately smushed one in the main park. I was reading Hisserdude's post about Dorylaea orini today and this guy sure looks like one. I think it would be pretty funny to collect roaches from disneyland since they make themselves look so clean and pest free and it would also be fun to collect a bunch of them and selectively breed them to have a certain feature and call them Dorylaea orini "Disney" or something like that. I could just be getting my hopes up but oh well

man, I hope they get to you alive! I'll be watching this post closely and crossing my fingers for you. Good luck! -
For my three hisser girls I just use a Critter Keeper terrarium and it works well. They are pretty nice plastic tanks that I've used to keep a wide variety of creatures in since I was around ten so I know that they are fairly strong. strong enough for roaches for sure. I would however, take some fine mesh and use that to cover the lid from the inside if I was expecting nymphs. Here's a link to one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002APZOE/ref=asc_df_B0002APZOE5022547/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B0002APZOE&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167136460722&hvpos=1o12&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3008090957097873313&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032360&hvtargid=pla-314499104851 Side note: they don't seem to be able to climb the walls very well so I use a bit of cork bark on the back wall. And welcome to the forum =]

Welcome to the forum, good luck on finding some of those isopods! I've got some dalmatians myself and quite enjoy them because they are easy to separate from the substrate due to their white coloring.

Most people use things like dog or cat food or oats as their dry foods, all of which you can find at Walmart. -

I live in the bay area, near San Francisco and I was wondering what kinds of native roaches could I find near me. I would like to go out and find some roaches because I quite enjoy going outside and looking under rocks and logs for various insects and reptiles or amphibians and it would be really interesting to catch and keep some roaches and to observe their natural habitat too.

Lucihormetica grossei (Mega Glowspot Roach)
Blaberus Craniifer replied to Hisserdude's topic in Cockroach Photo Gallery
Those look awesome, I hope they do well for you =) I've heard that you can feed them faerie fire mushrooms to make their spots glow, you should try that and record your results! -
Don't worry, this will probably never actually happen (at least not with me). I would prefer not to hybridize with tiger hissers anyways. I do not have an actual colony of hissers and I am fairly sure that the three females that I have are hybrids of some kind (maybe they aren't but I don't know) so I would like to get a colony of pure Gromphadorhina oblogonata and will definitely partake in selective breeding just as I plan to do with my Blabberus Craniifer once they reach adulthood.
