Hello! Matt, your post is great! I buyed 3 pairs of M. rhinoceros but I made some mistakes and, in Spain now, is very hot and the bug´s room got very hot. Now, I have only a female . I´ll try again in December. Now, I´m keeping her with 1 inch of dry coco fiber and 1 inch of dry oak leaves. I give her small pieces of bananas or apples once a week and the cage has a very small dich with water. The temperature is 26ºC (78F more or less). It seems to be ok but, Matt, Orin, do you think that I´m in a mistake? Thank you very much! Best regards, Javier.

Cockroach disappointment
PeriplanetaAmericana replied to Allpet Roaches's topic in General Blattodea Discussions
Hello, I thought T. petiveriana was bigger, like B. dubia. Also, I had the same "problem" with G. lurida. Have you spected a smaller roach and then, was bigger? Best regards, Javier. -
Hello, I have an 100 B. craniifer "BW" colony and they don´t have substrate. First, I kept them whit substrate, but it was less hygienic. Now, I´m keeping them without it and they are growing well. Best regards, Javier.

Hello, Substrate isn´t necesary, I keep my Madagascar hissing roaches without substrate and they´re ok. Best regards, Javier.
-
Hello, I read an article who said that roaches can recognize sounds or something else like Pavlov´s dogs. I try it: I hit softly the cage when I´m going to feed them. When the roaches look and smell the fruti, the run to eat it. One month later, I hit softly the cage, and the roaches run all over the cage looking for food It´s so funny! Best regards, Javier.

Problems with oothecae
PeriplanetaAmericana replied to PeriplanetaAmericana's topic in Breeding and Nymph Issues
Hello, Orin: No I didn´t, they digged in the substrate and put them on it. The females covered the oothecae with some substrate. Matt K: sorry, I don´t write English very well . My problem is: the oothecae get bad and didn´t hatched and I want to know if I have to do something special with them. Thank yoy very much Best regards, Javier. -
Hello, Maybe Periplaneta sp.? I don´t know very well, sorry . Does anybody has a identification key? Best regards, Javier.
-

Hi! Well, I keep E. opaca and Blattidae sp. "Sri Lanka". I want to know if the oothecae need special cares (humidity, temperature). I keep the adults and ninph with egg cartons, water in a little bottle, fruits and veggies (apples, some tomatoes and bananas), dog food and 1" of substrate (dry coco fiber). It´s somethig wrong? The roaches live and grow well, the problems are the oothecae. Thank you very much! Best regards, Javier.
-
You´re welcome! Are you going to raise your roach collection? Best regards, Javier.
