wow I would be so sad if I had to secretly keep my roaches like little marijuana plants : P
-
and I thought waiting for peppers was a while...a few years for babies...I would be rediculously stoked when I came across some nymphs

Housing different species together. . .
Briene replied to ArtBug's topic in General Blattodea Discussions
I've just never seen the point of mixing species......but I'm old school yo : P -
only 175 for one : P ... hmmm *saves up swap money*

-
go to the paper plate section @ any super market they should have tiny plastic souffle cups...idk how the hell you spell it : P or go to the tupperwear storage.....section and get little condimentish cups and use Polymer crystals ....I've never had a drowing issue

If your selling them with a disclaimer claiming they are for educational purposes then I do believe it's still legal.....They are trying to take away that privilege . So much for education hahahaha. I will get the finer details at the next swap! I shall measure that boy today. I do believe that pair just had their first batch of nymphs <3

.......I neglected a dubia colony for a few months and I still have that same colony years later ; ) SCIENCE.... I think they will be fine lol

I love good scores @ swaps <3 I wonder if I blow anybodies mind with my prices... I hope so <3

You released one of your roaches into the wilderness...big no no lol
-
yup clear packing tape....as you can see they are all haulted at the start of it lol. Then there is a layer of vaseline above that. It helps emensly .... but those little fucks tend to escape still every now and then.

got a few new species recently from Kyle <3. fusca - dusky cave roach B.cabrerai - striped burrowing roach Panchlora sp. - giant banana roach A.insignis - flat horn hisser pairI lol *runs to room with sweet pepper bag*. My Tesselata's are doing great! After adjusting the husbandry a bit they are molting into robust vibrant adults with lovely wings. Waiting for two nymphs to grow into a big sweet colony is slow and exciting! I would def reccomend. The new roaches arived and I come to a realization that I'm a space case and had nothing ready. *runs to walmart, busts out rotozip, glue gun, screen, scissors, vasaline, egg flats, mulch, moss* Hmmmm remember you can always ad shelves : P Portentosa nymphs! G.Oblongata! He's a big boy. Picked up a tegu *Bundy* Hanging out at the Expo with my Son . Not vending this show just visiting.....little ones can't resist tiny turtles. It will be a shame if they actually suscesfully ban selling these profitable gems!

I did rotting carrots yesterday. They loved it! I almost did rotting cucumber. I always google anything I'm iffy about and ask fellow roach gurus. I'm happy I did! Turns out cucumber isn't very yummy to roaches I guess.

I was thinking of trying out a clean up crew
-
Thus far I've had luck with vasaline ... clear tape and I duct tape the holes or glue gun them .....
-
I found some soil mites in my Tessslllaaaatttaaa ..peppered roaches lol! I switched them to soil and I think that they love it but HOLY CRAP the mites are ridiculous . Def far to much humidity . I was having an issue with them being to dry and wings being not so lovely. Lately I've had lovely wings and lots of babies but now I have these mites. It's going to be a pain in the ass taking all the babies out of the substrate.

<3 Ugh no matter how I explain my roach..science...love to most.....they seem to be not okay with it hahaha! Any who my first attempt with dominos didn't go so well. That was YEARS ago. I think I will re-try : ) .
-
I'm such a nazi about keeping mine seperated ....have yet to consider hybridization ......
-
I hope some ivories are available soon. I love the clean up skills of my portentosas . I will put a ton of food remnants in their container and they will devour it oh so quickly.
-
I don't think the species that you use matters I dont even own any ivorys I use mainly my portentosa's and other big colonies that I have : )

Heat-mat on a plastic container...is it ok ?
Briene replied to RaZias's topic in Enclosures and Barriers
I have a metro rack so there is open space between everything. I wouldn't reccomend using any sort of heat mechanism with a regular book shelf or any kind of enclosed rack system. Seems that is where fires erupt lol. I have a run of heat tape through the whole thing. On some of my species and snakes and such that need more heat I use zoo med heat pads. They are in rubber maid plastic tubs and other various types of plastic tubs......always keep an eye on that crap
