Did you check out this source for flat bark? https://www.thebiodude.com/products/southern-palm-bark-2-qt I wonder if you can specify a length of palm bark for purchase?

Armadillidium sp. "Montenegro" and Androniscus dentiger care?
dactylus replied to Cariblatta lutea's topic in Isopod Forum
Thanks Alan! -
Please keep us posted on your husbandry experiences / observations with this species. I am very interested in keeping P. bolivari but I've been hesitant in taking the plunge with this species because of other USA keeper's lack of success with them. It appears that "good air circulation" with moderate humidity is essential for keeping this species alive. Edulio Isopods seems to have the regimen for successfully keeping and breeding this species figured out. Alan Grosse in the USA also seems to have figured out the requirements for propagating for this species! Good luck my friend!!

Alan what kind of wood are you feeding your Montenegros? -
Would flat slabs of cork work for this species? Not the prettiest item for cage furniture but it is flat, smooth and easy to find locally or online. Available in various thicknesses: https://www.amazon.com/Cork-Sheet-Plain-24-thick/dp/B001ACIGO4?th=1

Bummer. I hope that is not the case!

Hopefully you'll wind up with a few of both sexes! Does it appear that you have all females or males?

^ I am 100% in agreement with you on the Latin names. The same common names can and have been applied to several different species and they are not as specific as the scientific name. The more that you know about the specific animals that you're keeping the better off you and the animal are. Just my opinion. -
If you had a 40 gallon long for inverts....

Have you personally kept any of the 4 species that you mentioned above? I'm considering setting up a display tank for a large lubber species in 2018... -
Hello - The photo that you sent is not visible. Could you e-mail the photo to me? I sent you a PM. Thank you! David

Thanks for your input. I abhor the use of Vaseline. Been there, done that, and I won't do it again. How do you attach Teflon tape to your enclosures? Thanks.

^ The cages that I'm envisioning would contain fast moving species that can climb or fly!! Emphasis on fast moving. Especially Panchlora species, Anallacta methanoides, Blattidae sp. “African Bullet”, etc... These are species that I would like to try keeping but that I haven't kept due to concerns over them escaping. As I said in my original post I would like to "...come up with a secure modification of some of my existing containers that would allow for a sliding or latched door into the container, with minimal danger of allowing the occupants to escape while I'm servicing the enclosure, then that is the route that I want to take. In addition to the clear door on the side of the enclosure I want to have total visibility of the area surrounding that door and the ability to close that door quickly if need be." Thanks

Good morning, What I'm looking for is an inexpensive, escape proof (as it can be), small to medium sized clear container, with a latched or sliding door, strategically located, to provide easy access for feeding and maintenance of the occupants of the enclosure. Ideally I would like something similar to the case pictured in the link below that isn't cost prohibitive. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/cal-mil-3611-arched-sliding-door-vintage-bakery-display-case-with-wood-base-36-x-19-1-2-x-17-1-4/2113611.html?utm_source=facebook-pla&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=rc I already have one billion Sterilite and Rubbermaid containers from decades of working with spiders, snakes, geckos, roaches, scorpions, amblypygids, etc... If I could come up with a secure modification of some of my existing containers that would allow for a sliding or latched door into the container, with minimal danger of allowing the occupants to escape while I'm servicing the enclosure, then that is the route that I want to take. In addition to the clear door on the side of the enclosure I want to have total visibility of the area surrounding that door and the ability to close that door quickly if need be. Suggestions? David

I offer Repashy Bug Burger to all of my roaches and all of my Isopods. They all seem to love it. I do NOT have a huge roach collection and I do not breed any of my roaches for feeders. The roaches are all pets for me. Given my relatively small numbers of roaches and the relatively small size of the isopods I mix a "large batch" of Bug Burger every week or two and store it in the refrigerator. It is a nutritious, convenient source of food for many of my inverts. I also offer dried, sterilized leaves and wood to all of the isopods and many of the roaches. The larger the container size that you purchase the cheaper it is: https://www.store.repashy.com/bug-burger-70.4-oz.-4.4-lb-2kg-jar-wholesale-clone.html

Is anyone that is currently keeping Porcellio dilatatus working on isolating any "unusual color morphs" for this species? After searching this forum I see the mention of one white female Porcellio dilatatus from 2014 that unfortunatelusy never produced any babies. I'd be interested in learning of any other P. dilatatus morphs that might be out there. Thank you.

Thanks for the great photos and species information!! The nymphs remind me of scale insects too. Very cool looking roaches!
