  1. Panchlora nivea, Blaberidae sp. Kenya, Schultesia lampyridiformes, and Paratemnopteryx colouniana are all active species in my vivariums. The Schultesia are well worth a shot but they need fine bark chips in which to lay eggs and for the young to hide in. No open top vivariums with any of these species. All the best from Bill.
  2. Nice pictures. That roach posed beautifully, or maybe you just brought out her fun side . . . Seriously though that's a nice roach well photographed. Lovely genus Parcoblatta. All the best from Bill.
  3. Hi, welcome. Look forward to talking with you. All the best from Bill.
  4. Baby Loboptera decipiens!

  5. Thanks guys! I am so pleased that almost every sentence ends with an exclamation mark! @Cariblatta lutea thanks, I hope you get some little ones soon too. We should probably compare care notes, we both might learn something new. @hisserdude, thanks again, good to know there's a fellow "Whovian" on here, we should exchange nerd points and Discuss the last series!
  6. Thanks! Just seen a couple pop out of the Ootheca, wow they're small! Now I know why I never see neonates in my Blaberidae "Kenya" vivarium, they're just too tiny. Good day to be a Roach Keeper.
  7. Hi, I've been working with the last of my colony of Loboptera decipiens pretty intensively for over a month, and during removing some spoiled food on Monday, I found a little Ootheca. There may have been others as today I saw a tiny yellow being walking over a dead leaf! I think I have baby roaches! Way to small to get a good picture of but I hope to see more soon. All the best from Bill.
  8. Looking at the shape of the wing cases on your specimens compared to mine, I don't think that the two are the same species now you mention it. Mall the best from Bill.
  9. Ootheca spotted in my Loboptera decipiens setup!

  10. Nice pics. I had some of these a few years back, but mine had much less of the light markings. All the best from Bill.
  11. Cheers to you both. Hisserdude, I followed your Roach board on Pinterest, very interesting. Looking forward to chatting some more with you. Mall the best from Bill.
  12. Love these! Pity we can't get them over here in Europe. Lovely pics too. All the best from Bill.
  13. As Ned Flanders would say . . . My name is Bill and I live in the UK. I have been keeping roaches half my life as well as other bugs, spiders scorpions snakes and amphians. I currently have 9 species of Roach and a snake and a Toad. See my profile for more details. Be seeing you!
  14. Here's my Polyphaga Obscura set up. There are hybernacula made of plastic cricket tubs under the hot end which is heated by a ceramic heater on a thermostat which is also on a timer in the warmer months to give a variation in day/ night temperature. The substrate is leafmould coir and chopped bark.
  15. Hi, I'm Bill from the UK, and these are my display Vivaria. First is my setup for a small group of Loboptera decipiens, this lives on my bedside table and measures 8" x 8" x 8", and uses all live plants except for the reindeer moss. There are hollows in the substrate that are filled with reindeer moss and leaf litter, and the roaches spend the daylight hours here except at feeding time. The temperature is kept below 21.5 Celsius and the humidity at around 70% RH, which is more humid than many others choose for this species, but mine were very lethargic at 50% RH. the vivarium has LED lighting on a timer. Next my Polyphaga obscura Vivarium.
