Ok so next Thursday at our young life place we are having an ugly sweater party. Who ever gets nominated for the most ugly sweater gets gift cards to different places. Do you guys think I should get some dubias or madagascars on my sweater since they always get called ugly and disgusting? I tanked to a leader about it and he said that would be awesome

Yeah, I would worry immensely about the risk of the roaches either falling off and getting trampled, which is a loss to you, or of course, escaping, as it's normally illegal to release non-native species. even accidentally, and of course, how ethical it is to take roaches to such an environment, I know they don't have as developed a nervous system as vertebrates, but I suspect they still feel stress.

I would maybe consider taking one particularly tame roach to a party, so I could keep an eye on it at all times, so long as I knew it wasn't going to be a huge party and I wasn't going to drink anything alcoholic, and I had somewhere safe, like a secure, solid travelling tub with food and a hiding spot, to put it so it could be put away for a less stressful and risky night... but, Keith's idea of photographs is a great one! I would do that before taking live roaches.

I think I'll take ONE large Madagascar roach with for two reasons. 1 a couple of people want to see it and 2 because the one I'm thinking of is quite old (4 1/2 years old) and I think if the stress is too much for him it won't be such a big loss for me.

There are some Hollywood types who wear living jewel encrusted hissers. I think its a bit odd, but who am I to judge

Urgh, I've seen that... really not a fan of that idea... gluing Swarovski crystals and a chain to the back of any animal, insect or otherwise, and reducing it to a living ornament is pretty ethically indefensible, not to mention the awful care advice that was given to go with them.

Which, I believe, is why the original creator has stopped selling them now.

Maybe it is good that the majority of people think that cockroaches are nasty pests...It might keep them from wearing them as jewelry.
