Blaberus Craniifer
I have just purchased three female hissers, and was wondering if anyone has advice on keeping them? how deep should their substrate be? And any food advice?
IceRoach
You could keep them in room temperature with no substrate. But they like moisture. Hiding places is important.
Marrader21
Hissers are very hardy and can live in a variety of setups. You'll definitely want an enclosure with a latchable/ heavy lid and a 2' petroleum jelly barrier around the top; hissers are good at climbing and are very strong so these will help prevent escaping. As for food they should also have access to protein and a bit of calcium; for this I usefish flakes, cat food, and crushed up egg shells. They can eat a wide variety of foods so it's kinda fun to experiment and see what they like. Mine are big fans of apples, bananas, and bell peppers.

I'll have to try that, thanks for the advice! =)
Crazy Bug Lady
I didn't know they would eat egg shells! I'm going to try that.

I give eggshells to my isopods, I read they need calcium. I'll start giving egg shells to my roaches too.
