Dubia Roach Taking a very long time to become an adult

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have had a Dubia Roach for one to one and a half years now, it is still about 3/4 inch to an inch long, no wings or adult coloration. Any idea what is going wrong?(No photos yet, i'll add some soon)

That's impressive in a way do you live somewhere where it stays pretty cool? Heat is one of the main factors in growth for insects. That and availability of food so as long as theres constant food heat it should grow. They only other thing I can think of is if its in a bright room it may not come out to eat as often as if it were dark.

Absolutely to save money on heating your hisser and dubia you could put them together in the same tank and just get one heat mat. I suggest putting the heat mat on the back of the tank not the bottom. Of course I'm assuming you just have the one of each species if there are colonys the rules change some. :)

Here is a photo! It is living with a Hisser and Blue Death Feigning Beetle, is this okay? ( I am getting a giant asian mantid but I am not putting that in the roach cage!:P)
