I was absolutely disgusted when I read this... Even we as roach keepers have to show our support for this unfortunate person.

Imagine if your most prized and cherished species, being insect or herp, or anything, was slaughtered by somebody who wouldn't even return the animal alive and fess up for the crime! Obviously the robber's intent was to steal belongings, and he didn't even have the guts to return the animal, but instead slaughtered it.

Just makes me sick...

:( I can't go past this without posting! How heartless! I wonder how many years of jail they'll go through.

Horrible!!! That is exactly why we panic when one of our pets or loved ones is missing, even for a short time. There is no predicting the evil some people are capable of and willing to do. I hope the culprits are caught and convicted not only of animal cruelty but felony theft, destruction of property, petnapping and whatever charges they can give for unlawfully reaching into someone's car for the purpose of stealing. Then I hope they get locked up right after a big animal rights rally with a cell block full of PETA and ALF activists who have a grudge.

I seriously am about ready to cry after seeing that thread. Unfortunately, I don't know how much can be done legally given that she wasn't a "cute and furry" animal like a cat or dog (from what I've seen the law tends to turn a blind eye to things with no fur and legs, hence why atrocities such as Roundups are allowed to happen). As for the monsters that did this, all we can hope for is that they get their just deserts in the biggest way possible, be it from the Law or karma.

Things like this only make me think even lower of our species.

The general public is definetly biased towards the cute and cuddly, even though if you ask me a snake of that caliber represents a much greater committment both financially and emotionally. I had a dog growing up and it lived about 15 years. I've had a ton of cats who decided to go feral, but you have these babies for way longer.

I don't know how long that thing lives but I know a local lady who raises red foot tortoises among others. You can expect 50 years or longer from them. That's like losing a friend you've known your whole life.
