Who is eating your feeders?

Hey, fellow roach lovers ;)

I currently have one good-sized dubia colony servicing a single (but very large) leopard gecko. Obviously, he can't keep up!

I've seen other members say that one colony was not enough for just a couple of their herps! I'm curious.

What animals are you feeding to? (Including amphibs, repts, ts, other inverts)

Which ones are your best (read: BIG) eaters?

Pics are very welcome, of course!

I may or may not use your recommended species to fill my spare terrarium ;)

My hungriest piggies are my pixie frogs, blue tongue skink, and the gargoyle gecko. The skink will eat basically everything bugs, fruit, veggies, fingers. I once dropped in a week's worth of food in the garg's enclosure when I was going away for a bit. She ate everything before we left. I have never seen a chubby gecko.

I feed an Ackie Monitor. I'd imagine an Argus could eat a normal sized colony in one sitting lol.

I can't recommend Lateralis enough for small feeders. Compared to my dubias, one bin will feed about twice the weight. Easier to maintain also.

Doc: I bet those pixie frogs are pigs! Those things are monstrous! I've really considered getting one. Love that your garg is a pig too, though! She must be healthy and happy. :)

wcbpolish: They're beautiful, though! Do you enjoy keeping him? What do you do with all the other roaches?

bpmojo80: That's a lot of hungry mouths! How are the ackies? I've heard they're a blast!

RomanBuck: XD You're brave to keep OBT's! I would be too scared of them, I think.

Smiley: Aww, another Ackie! Is yours very tame? And I think you're right about the Argus!

TongueFlicker: Hey, I would bend over backwards for my leo! He's worth it. :)

OBTs are nothing to fear! My slings don't try to escape or bite me like everyone says they try to do. They seem pretty chill. I did accidentally hold one though lol. That was pretty scary to me until I realized that it was just like holding a rosea

Smiley: I hope he tames up for you as he grows! Gotta love a monitor. :)

RomanBuck: Says the brave guy with six T's! ;) They're beautiful animals but I've had bad reactions to spider bites in the past. I'm sticking far away from tarantulas, much less supposedly aggressive ones. I bet you're great with them, though!

They are a lot of fun. Ive kept several species and the ackies are my favorite.

I don't actually keep him :-( When my class found him, I did not have any aquariums, so the next door teacher is keeping him for me, sort of a joint custody.

Extras? I sell a few as feeders through Craig's List, and last summer I shared quite a few through the Ovogram site. I'm trying to contract a few to the pet store, but they are not too hot on the idea.

I will have plenty (of dubia) to share this summer through the ovogram site, and maybe to others who want to start a colony. Too cold to ship right now though- nighttime temps are still below freezing.

My OBT is pretty chill too. The female salmon pink birdeater I have however is a terror. She will literally leap across the enclosure and strike at a shadow. That is why her name is Lucy(short for lucifer). I would rather handle any of my ornamentals before taking her out.

That says A LOT!

Currently, feeders go to Platymeris biguttata assassin bugs, leopard geckoes, and several ant colonies (Tetramorium caespitum, Myrmica cf. americana, Pheidole ceres, Tapinoma sessile). We are also anticipating the acquisition of a couple poison dart frogs. :)

I raise Bearded Dragons, I use to feed them crickets, if the smell and the die off wasn't bad enough, a few got lose

and made their way to my landslords apartment/office, I almost got evicted, now I breed Dubia, my guys eat them,

everyone who buys a baby bearded from me learn to feed them dubia also, best move I ever made. As a feeder

they perfect for my guys, I now have over 20,000 Dubia, 9 bearded dragons.

KitKatie329 Look how cute he is!!! <3 Walter is a opossum after my own heart.

ChiManSam So glad roaches worked out for you! :) Gotta keep those beardies fed. Crickets are honestly a pain in the you-know-what.

Andee Nice bunch of pets! Do you enjoy the BTS? I've heard they're great.

Salmonsaladsandwich :( Oh geez! I've heard that feeding a lot of radish to herbivorous herps can cause pink urates. Your frog probably didn't appreciate all that juice! Is he alright?
