Yet another one of my B. giganteus had a mis-molt, mainly because it couldn't find the vertical wood I put in the tank. Also, she looks like another roach took a chomp out of one of her wing pads. Would it be ok to snip off the remainder of both wings? Will she still be able to function properly and whatnot?
Roachsmith
I think that would be ok. I often thought about doing that to some of my more scruffy roaches that had nibbles taken out. She should probably be ok like she though is unless the wing is keeping her from moving around well.
Orin McMonigle
It probably happened because another one attacked it. The behavior usually results from a lack of enough food or water but sometimes certain ones are singled out for no reason. I've seen a few molt out great while another one nearby gets half eaten.

Yeah, I ended up having to feed her to my plated lizard. I think she got mauled, so now I'm going to scatter food through the tank as well as use water gels instead of a mini chicken waterer. x.x

I sometimes use water gel, but find that they can get enough water 'sucking' it out of the media in thier cage, so I just dump water in one end every few days.

On a good note, my slab of vertical wood works wonders for Peppered Roaches! ^^
At least I did something right.
