now,i know what it sounds like when they hiss when you handle them..but i keep hearing them make a hissing that sounds almost like a cicada or rattle snake.what are they doing in there?is it a mating thing,or territory?i hear it like 10 times a day.

They have a lot of different hisses for mating, disturbance, etc. I haven't heard anything like a rattlesnake, but it might be fighting males.

Male territorial fighting was my guess as well; sometimes they'll shake their abdomens during the stand-offs while hissing.

can it be them fighting over a female as well?its kind of like a quick shaky hiss.

If you pet them while hissing they'll muffle it so it kind of rattles. lol
