    Gyna centurio mite problem

It's tough to get rid of grain mites because there are probably some in your house and certainly around your house. However, it is possible to get them down to where you won't be able to find any if you look. Start with fresh substrate and only add food a day or two after every last particle of food has been eaten.

A Cryptocercus Question for the Experts

I suggest sticking with the rotten wood.

    hello from kansas!

Welcome! D. punctata are similar to hissers in care but it's hard to get much production. You'd probably never see 800 at once no matter how much work you put into it. It is a unique species. The D. punctata I have originally came from Roth, but maybe somebody else has something very similar.

Dwarf white isopods vs giganteus nymphs

I think the tomentosa would feed on dead ones but have no ability to harm healthy giganteus.
  7. You could try putting petroleum jelly only where they are chewing.

When will you travel to find your Loboptera?

    Porcellio expansus

I offer a few damp areas and a few dryer areas in the enclosure.

    Porcellio expansus

Porcellio expansus has been the most sought after species for a while. They grow very large for a terrestrial isopod (many times the biggest most people see in their back yards) and older males have extremely long uropods. There are two different forms, one where the "skirt" (margin of the pronotum) is light orange and one where the skirt is yellow. Porcellio succinctus looks similar but the skirt is white.

    Porcellio expansus

They like moisture and ventilation which can be a little trying at times.

    Hawai'ian cockroach stowaway

Looks pretty neat, but you might have to wait till its an adult to figure it out.

    Blaberus giganteus as feeders

They can do pretty well, just not enough to spare too many.

    Isopods slowly dying off

What's the ventilation? Do you know what species you have?

    Isopod Hobby

I bought a copy of that book and there is NO mention of isopods, not a single word. I wish I hadn't bought it.
  19. The top do all look like craniifer and I don't know if you can tell on the little guys unless you compare a picture of both at that size.

I believe the correct answer is located in posts 2 and 3.

    Isopod Hobby

I think the oldest book with a few paragraphs I have is from 1989. I don't consider someone explaining how to keep isopods in a jar is even remotely evidence of an actual hobby, but I am interested in finding the oldest source I can.

That is disappointing, they look like they have the body structure for it.

Approved Common Names - American Cockroach Society

Thanks Hisserdude. Wouldn't Lanxoblatta be better off as bark mimic, rough bark doesn't do any justice to it's properties. Pseudoglomeris magnifica = Wouldn't Emerald pillbug roach be more descriptive? Is Thorax in the hobby? improcera means little I thing mega sounds like Megablocks or Megatron and giant is simpler. Comments ? Do you mean 115 for Paraplecta? I identified them to Paraplecta some years back but I forget which species.

The number and common name generally will not change, but scientific name changes and new species or subspecies can be added as they become established in culture. Suggestions will be incorporated (or not), then deleted. LOOKING FOR UPDATES- post below
