Anyone know what Gelastocoris oculatus(Big-Eyed Toad Bugs) eat?

I mostly fed them small crickets.

    Panchlora sp. "White"!

I don't think Kyle has the time, send them to me.

    Mites on Lucihormetica verrucosa

With mites the bigger ones are usually predatory so they're good.

    No final molt?

Why Blatta orientalis? Did you collect them yourself?

    How many millimeters are those?

Anybody going to the ATS conference in Tucson July 29-30th?

It was fantastic with great talks, great bug people, and beautiful scenery. My favorite part was a little tree on the path to the back pool leaking sap and covered in big green June beetles, wasps, and small butterflies during the day.
  7. I'll be there to give a talk on amblypygi.

I don't think I knew you went again in 2011. It didn't even happen last year (sort of) so you never know when it will be the last year. Collecting with you guys were a bunch of my favorite memories.

    Feed for high humidity

Moist dog food treats like Moist and Meaty Purina often last weeks longer than dry dog food before molding.

    Dorylaea orini

Where did you get yours and how big were they? They're usually about 50/50 though I checked the one cage and the other five were female.
  13. I'd say most species need a bit of moisture but also good ventilation. The setup is going to depend on the material you have at hand for a cage.

Hello from California fellow roach enthusiasts

Welcome! The available species change somewhat regularly because there aren't many people who keep more than fifty species, most just a few.

    Panchlora sp. "White"!

I prefer to wait till they are a little cheaper. Would love some now though.

    New cockroach book

I've wanted to put together a nice, big hardcover pet cockroach book for a few decades but it was not possible till a few years ago without going bankrupt. The problem was you could never sell enough copies to pay the basic print costs of a traditional print run but print on demand technology has improved greatly. I have been working on a text for some years now and was wondering what other roach hobbyists thought about splitting a book into two parts to get the cost down to 35 versus one big, complete one at 60. I wonder if it's possible to sell even a few books at the higher price. I may not have an actual say in the matter.

    Oniscus asellus "Orange"

I've seen pics of orange Oniscus and I don't think a thousand years of culling would turn yours into those. The orange forms do not normally have an intermediate.
  18. You lucked out there Keith but of course you were on your game. I wish I had had a better camera when I had one but just some old 35mm prints.

    Blue Xestoblatta not really Xestoblatta?

New genera are often erected for absolutely no good reason so it's probably not Panchlora but I agree calling it Panchlora sp. seems closer to the truth than calling it the random ectobiid.

    Hawaii Roaches

https://entophile.co...coquebert-1804/ This is the roach I have wanted from Hawaii for a long time. It is very illegal to remove native fauna from Hawaii but all the roaches you see are introduced pests and they are NOT protected. The other big concern is accidentally introducing new species so you can't bring any biological material into Hawaii. Taking home "pests" would relate more to your own state. Common pests like the Periplaneta you are seeing are shipped interstate without permits by Biological Supply Houses because ag does not pretend they can control P. americana. Although I'm pretty sure you'd be breaking no laws declaring and bringing P. americana openly they might not let you on the plane anyway.

    Anyone Allergic to Their Roaches?

I am allergic to dust, mold, pollen and pretty much anything fine and airborne but I have been very fortunate that in 36 years I've not developed any sort of reaction to cockroaches.

    Need some cockroach photos

Some photos would be great since the ones I have from twenty years ago are too small to use.
