  1. Hey everyone I have a colony of about 1000 Shelfordella lateralis (rusty reds) And I am having issues cleaning their enclosure. I would upload a picture but I cant get I below the 0.29MB. So the enclosure has no substrate (to ease in finding ootheca) 4 Vertical egg trays and 1 horizontal tray where waterpipes are placed. Next to the horizontal egg Tray there is a food box with dogfood. My problem is to put it bluntly they shit like crazy. At the end of the week everything apart from there food bowl is covered in small fecal matter. This is removed at the start of the week and repeated each week. However, I have no good way of getting all my roaches out of the colony so I can easily clean it. What I do atm is I take each egg tray out and shake off the roaches into a temporary holding box until I have moved all the Roches. Then I make sure no roaches or ootheca are left and remove the fecal matter with a paper towel. This is slow and tedious, and I deal with escapees every time. I was wondering if any of you had some good ideas on how I could improve my cleaning routine. Thanks in advance

    Putrid specimen

A drowned Cotinis beetle I have refrigerated has developed a nasty stink, but appears fine. How should I save it, and how should I store dead insects for long periods before they are put into boxes? Will freezing it destroy its structure?

    APHIDS EVERYWHERE

So, the other day i picked a beautiful Magnolia flower for my boyfriend who lives up north where there are no Magnolia trees. I set the flower down on top of my Madagascar roaches enclosure and went to bed. Today i go to clean the water and give fresh fruit..and there are BILLIONS of aphids..EVERYWHERE...the food dish with the chick seed in it looks like its about to walk away. ITS FULL OF APHIDS. They have swarmed all three of my roach containers..they're all over the book case.. I dont know how to get rid of the aphids without killing all my roaches..please god help me... -Jae Marie

    help breeding B. discoidalis

I have roughly around 250-300 and 50-60 males in a tub I have no substrate. I am using a 58 quart sterilite tub I painted out side black I have 9-10 vertical egg flats, humidity is around 80-90 and day temps of 80-85 degrees and night temps of 76-74 degrees there food consists of almost 30% protein, also feed them sweet potatoes and oranges and I have water crystals for moisture and mainly for humidity. All adults are freshly shed about 1 month ago and I have seen so far 6-8 egg sacks dropped and no nymphs I have other bins that a have nymphs in all sizes, im not sure what im doing wrong, I was told I should put a few mix sizes nymphs in the bin with adults.
