Improved housing...

This is the latest housing structure for my B. Orientalis nymphs, and is the best (so far) for observation and study.

The walls are 2mm thick and 8mm apart, which is a good indicator of their size.

That's pretty cool and easy for schools and colleges to create, you could make a nice little class project resource from this.

All the best from Bill. :D

That's part of the plan. The printed yellow piece allows observation of all the nymphs, unless they are wandering around looking for food or water. The differently shaped and sized chambers gives them options for their grouping behavior...it varies quite a bit.

The time-lapse rig for my camera arrived today, but I'm still working out some bugs (pun intended!).

Anybody wishing to replicate the housing setup can get the file & info here: http://www.thingiver...m/thing:1441666

This reminds me of an expierment I heard about where roaches evenly dispersed them selfs in a way that each one got the same amount of space. It was compared to a natural socialism. I dont think all roaches do that but its interesting that some are more socially equal. Thats also a very lovely setup I think it makes an impressive display piece.
