Posted by pauli on 4/18/2007, 8:59 am 64.12.116.17 looking for a 1000+ count of lobster roaches for a reasonable price to bolster my small colony and for resale at a pet shop let me know if anyone wants to do business. I might also be looking for someone to provide me with lobsters on a fairly regular basis until my colony gets up to speed.

  4. Posted by orin on 4/17/2007, 9:01 am, in reply to "Re: mixed roach set up" 207.200.116.139 Good catch. I was focusing on the animals selected and completely missed the bran substrate reference. Sounds like it would turn into a nasty, phorid and mite infested mess.
  5. Posted by dave on 4/17/2007, 12:42 am, in reply to "Re: mixed roach set up" 68.186.123.221 the bran will almost imedietly be infested with mites, don't go there , It sucks. davegrimm1@yahoo.com
  6. Posted by Paul on 4/16/2007, 9:59 am, in reply to "Re: mixed roach set up" 64.12.117.10 The only issue you might have is the isopods dying off, since they need a fairly moist/humid environment to thrive. It might be easier if you have the coconut fiber or peat on the bottom... kept damp for the isopods, and I'm sure the roaches will do good w/the humidity also. Otherwise you'll have good roaches breeding and dead isopods (which are my favorite organism). If you have any questions on how to keep them in a good way check out my site w/all the info.... 7. Posted by orin on 4/15/2007, 10:50 pm, in reply to "mixed roach set up" 207.200.116.139 That sounds like a reasonable setup. It's fine to mix most roaches in a large cage in small numbers. If a few species, such as Neostylopyga or G.portentosa, eventually reproduce in quantity you'll want to thin their numbers to prevent them from crowding out less sturdy species. elytraandantenna@lycos.com

  10. Posted by orin on 4/11/2007, 8:55 am, in reply to "bug stop" 207.200.116.139 Bug stop is nice because it doesn't smear but for many species it doesn't work well to keep critters contained. It works great with lobster roaches though. elytraandantenna@lycos.com
  11. Posted by Dave on 4/9/2007, 11:23 pm, in reply to "bug stop" 68.186.123.221 You can get it from blaberus.com but some roaches can get out with vaseline or bug stop if the bin is not smooth to begin with. This is true of some hisser species. davegrimm1@yahoo.com
  12. Posted by Squinn on 4/9/2007, 10:44 am 205.188.116.18 I'm tired of using vaseline where can i get the "slick" paint to put around the top of my totes and what is it made of? i have 5 or 6 large totes i keep my roaches in so i probably would need quite a bit.

  14. Posted by Tanner on 4/9/2007, 10:51 pm 68.248.231.9 Hi, I realize this is exclusivly a cockroach forum, but i thought it wouldnt hurt to post a question about millipedes, seeing as most people on the board seem knowledgable about Arthropods in general. I just purchased a female Giant African Black, and im looking for a Male for her to mate with, if anyone is looking to sell or knows of a reputable website. I would also be interested in a male of any other exotic "Giant" species: Burmese, amber, banded....etc. Again, sorry for swaying the thread from "roaches", but i figured it would hurt trying to get some information. Thanks tanner@uwm.edu
