  1. long time, no post! anyway, today i heard that roaches wont eat cucumbers which has been a little surprising to me. ive had four hissers in the past, making a grand total of six g.portentosa roaches under my care. i also had some dubia roaches 'gifted' to me with the best intentions which turned into a colony i had for several months until i had to sell the entire colony. not the most experience by far (although im hoping to keep working towards more advanced husbandry with more 'difficult' roaches over time) but i wouldve never thought they didnt like cucumbers since all mine ate them.
  2. Dear colleagues: My name is Daniel Patón and I am a professor of Ecology at the University of Extremadura (Spain). I teach two subjects Environmental Biotechnology and Experimental Techniques in Ecology. My specialization is the analysis of environmental data. I am interested in invertebrate composites such as isopods, worms, mealworms, soldier flies and of course cockroaches. We touch on these topics in my classes, but I have a lot to learn. I can bring knowledge of applied statistics and interdisciplinary training. 1. Do you currently raise any roaches? I currently care for th
  3. Good morning everyone. 😛 I've decided to start up a photo thread on my cockroach collection in its entirety here after finally learning how to easily share pictures thanks to the one and only, @Hisserdude. I'll go ahead and get things rolling with the current crowning jewel of my collection, my smallish nymph pair of Rhinoceros Roaches, Macropanesthia rhinoceros. 4. Hello recently I got some plastic shelves but my bins won't fit, I want to know if you guys can give me a specific brand of shelves I can use, my bins are 18 inches tall so what I need is spacing between shelves to be between 18 and 20 inches, I got 4 bins being used an 1 empty so a 4 tier shelf unit would do but a 5 would be alright too, It's been years that I have my bins side to side in different places but I need the space to put new furniture the stacking would solve the problems I know some people buy wood and build their own shelves but I don't have the tools or knowledge to build somet
  5. Hey guys, new to the forum but have been keeping a Dubia Colony over the past year to feed our Bearded Dragons. Last year I scoured the internet for information on how to care for them and what type of enclosure to house them in. It's worked out pretty well so I recently made a video of the build process and uploaded it to YouTube. Let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions for modifications if I make more in the future. Thanks
  6. Hi all, My domino roach colony is doing pretty well, but I keep finding legs missing on a lot of them, even adults. Are they munching on each other? How can I prevent this, I almost always have water and food in their cage.
