The funding claim is a bold faced lie. Director Kelly spent 1.5 million on a carousel and 105 million on upgrades to the elephant and panda exhibits (2 whole species versus many hundreds) and refused offers to accept fundraising for the invertebrate exhibit since it might take away from his favorite animals.
