Recommended Posts

Here are some of my new Taiwanese leaf roaches, they are definitely one of the more interesting roach species in the hobby!

I have had these guys for a little over a week, and today I checked their container and found babies! Its my first roach litter, I'm so psyched right now! :D

I love the fact that you cant really see them on the cardboard :)

Haha ya they do blend in quite well with the rolls! :)

Those are really cool!

Thanks! :)

My colony is doing quite well, here's a couple of pictures of what it looks like under just one cardboard hide in my cage.

These guys really like to pile on top of each other under hides, it's quite cute actually! :D

Yes they are the offspring of my original adults, some of which are still alive! And I agree, it would be extremely difficult to distinguish these from the leaf litter, especially the more reddish individuals.

They can be pretty skittish, when handled, nymphs will literally leap from your hand onto the floor, and adults just run around. However, some of my adults are ok being handled, as long as you don't make any sudden movements. They are nocturnal, and pretty shy. They are also very prolific and fast growing.

Very cool species and glad they're doing well for you! Hoping to get some in the future when I have more space lol. How difficult is care for them?

Thanks! They are easy, almost too easy! They like it moist, and like lots of hides. They are super prolific, and they grow very fast. They could probably make good feeders, I need to get more carnivorous things lol! :)

Doesn't get much easier than that! Definitely a species I'll have to get.

You definitely should, they are a very pretty species IMO! :)

Cool, these guys have amazing camouflage! Is that one greyish guy recently molted?

Yeah, they really do blend in with dead leaves. :) No, some individuals are actually a greyish olive-green color, I'm pretty sure only the females. However females can be the normal reddish brown too, so color is not a good way to determine gender.

Is that bright red their normal color or is that from the flash? The first pics didn't seem so red. Either way cute lil guys. :)

In camera flash or sunlight they look bright red, but in normal, dimmer lighting they look like this:

Still pretty red looking if you ask me. :)
