  1. I have been informed Dubias are slower breeders then Polymorphic and Discoid. Does anybody agree.
  2. Which one is a faster breeder? also wich one is the larger of the two. Also, what is the fastest and largest breeding roach? Bigger then dubia.
  3. Oh' I didn't think of that. Thank for the info. I'll be keeping them separated.
  4. I am wanting to no If I can put the Archimandrita tesselata (Giant Peppered Roach) and the Blaberus atropos (Polymorphic Roach) together. I don't want them to breed, I just want the peppered roach to mature before I display them. I have about a dozen peppered and maybe four dozen Polymorphic Roach.
  5. That was interesting. thanks for the article. I was surprised that 10k a year is considered wealthy over there.
  6. So I have 296 Adult (yes I counted them) and about 1000 nymph Dubias. I noticed for the past 4 months I've had them both adults and nymphs eat only veggies. I put the roach chow (blended dog food, oats, rabbit food) in a pile in the corner of the tote next, to that is the veggies then, comes water gels. When I put a hand full of veggies in at night it's gone but, the roach chow isn't touched. I thought they needed the protein to survive. Maybe, they need less of it to fill up. I think I will limit them to 3 times a week for veggies. To see if they eat more chow. Has anybody else noticed this? Also, In the past 4 months I've had 60 adult females and 44 adult males die. Is this normal? Maybe, because they aren't eating the roach chow? It could also be because they died of old age. I purchased them from a guy locally. I should mention the adults are in a separate bin then the nymphs. I use a heating pad which gets 95°on the bottom and an ambient temperature of 75-80°. The Humidity is 55° Any thought or ideas would be appreciated.
  7. ok never mind.. The company is no longer selling the Turkish roaches.
  8. U can purchase some if you really want them.
  9. I just want to say thanks for the info. I've been having a hard time finding how to hatch Lateralis egg casings. I will be ordering 3000 sub adult for 45 delivered. I figure I can't go wrong seeing how they are cheaper then crickets. Before anybody says anything I already have Dubia but they are breeding to slow.
  10. Thanks everybody for the info. I ended up purchasing a used blender for 5.00 bucks. The 500 watt blender is working well.
  11. no updates in four years. It must of been nothing.
  12. I ended up purchasing peppered roaches. Thanks for your help
  13. Can anybody give some tips about these two species. I do have the peppered in bark and both the roaches in a tube with A heating pad. I am wanting to the how to sex these guys, what the humidity and temps should be? life cycle and breeding info would be a big help. Thanks.
  14. What all roaches do you have? What do you use for food for your roaches? I didn't see any heating pads. Do you have a heater for the room? I have some dubias but peppered and Atropos are on the way. Any helpfull hints for the Giant Peppered Roaches? (Archimandrita tesselata)
  15. Really that is interesting.. I know some eggs in the insect world need to freezen before they can hatch, such as silkworms eggs. Which, is why I was skeptical about freezing but, as savage said it's personal preference. Insect can survive in extreme heat and cold. One just hopes they are not on your piece of wood.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll put the bark in the freezer for a couple of days.
  17. How do you sterilize wild wood? I was thinking 300 degrees in an oven but then I thought microwaving it. What do you guys think? I need to sterilize some wood for the Polymorphic Roach that's coming next week.
  18. I was thinking the Giant Cave Roach would be the one I was going to get but, I'm interested in the pepered roach now. Also, I would be making it a natural habbitate. Any sugjustion for the cave roach or peppered?
  19. Yes, but These seem to be easier to get the roaches of when sorting.
  20. So, I'm on the hunt for this type of crate for dubias. Does anybody know where to find them without going to the grocery store as they are used to hold apples and oranges?
  21. I have been reading all the post of what to feed dubia roaches for a large breeding colony. From what I can tell the majority of us use agree on Oats, Grains, Fish flakes, and High grain dog/cat food with 12-13% protein. The thing is I have use cheap dog/Cat food ground up in the past and didn't have a problem of them breeding. But, I do remember having adult Dubias that died. However, that could be because of low humidity. I should mention I breed them several years ago and decided to start up again. Has anybody did an experiment by putting 10-20 adults in a separate container with only low quality dog food while having another container consisting of the same number of adult but, feeding them High quality grain and such?
