  1. I don't know how many she had, but if all you can find are 10....I'd be checking under the enclosure, behind and under whatever it's on as well....she surely had more than 10 offspring even if they died or were still born....have you checked your substrate really well?
  2. I have 8 and 2 on the way...but no babies from these guys....yet. Sooooooo I will just have to enjoy watching you guys.;-)
  3. No clue, but they sure are pretty! Welcome! :-)
  4. Wow, that's a lot! Why so many? Are you a distributor? But very neat. ;-)
  5. I'm with you Briene, the petroleum jelly is the nasty joke we all face with breeding hissers. It's great for the adults because they have weight, but the nymphs race across it like there's no tomorrow. LOL What I've done is taken weatherstrip seal tape..(it's a self adhesive foam) and gone around my 27 Qt locking lid sterilite tub and it actually does seal when you close it. Use the thinnest size seal...it's 3/8 wide x 5/16 thick and you get 2 ten ft rolls in a pack for little to nothing....I paid $1 at walmart for it on clearance. I also have a 20 gal tank of hissers, and for that one I used the thicker foam and I believe I have got them on "lock-down" finally!
  6. I use flex watt heat tape on my plastic shelving unit with a thermo-stat for all my roaches and reptiles that are kept in sterilite tubs. I use a different strip for each shelf because if I don't want to use the ones with the hissers I can just unplug those strips, yet still keep my geckos enclosure at optimum temp.
  7. So what's the verdict?....Can organic babyfood be used instead of fresh fruit with the same benefits?
  8. Yes the screening is great. Make sure you use aluminum screening though. I have never had a problem with escapes using it. And yes, the holes are very tiny...actually the purpose of the screen is to keep insects out....but we are using it to keep them in. ;-)
  9. I raise hissers...so about how many adults would you say could be housed in one of these enclosures? I am finding it very difficult to stop babies from escaping the rubbermaid/sterlite type containers. I have found that airtight food containers with vents cut in them work the best but limit size. Vaseline is a joke for hisser babies so please don't tell me about that solution. :-) My thought was that I could house maybe 10 adults in one, when I get a fair amount of nymphs...simply move the adults to a new bucket so that my babies are together. Sine these buckets are round I figured I would use toilet paper tubes stacked for hides. Does this sound OK or what considerations am I missing? ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED.
  10. Not to be gross nor inhumane but I must ask this.... I have been wanting to do this for over a year and I thank you for this post. What has stopped me from even trying was the scooping out the insides part......so here is my question. You said the two you put in the microwave turned out fine without this step, so can I use that as an alternative? Now I am only speaking of the ones that die..I would never kill to to this. If so, how would I do that???? Like would I use the defrost mode to cook so that it would not explode? Please answer because I have lost some truly amazing specimens and would love to preserve them.
