    Argh! Flies!

Hi, I had the same problem with phorid flys, I got some in the mail when I ordered some crickets online and within a few days they where all over my enclosures and all over my house. All I did to get rid of them was to take out all the water dishes and I didnt mist or anything like that for a few days and they where gone pretty fast. If you cant get a pic of the fly try doing a online search of pest flys and maybe youll get lucky and see the one you have, Im sure knowing what it is will help you figure out how to get rid of them. Goodluck!

    Winter advisory

My rooms humidity is down about 10-15% with the heater running and I can notice the difference in how fast water dishes are drying up and such, you defenetly have to keep a closer eye on the humidity now thats its winter.

Things roaches in general won't eat:

I noticed a few people say they feed carrots and I just wanted to let yall know that carrots have a natural pesticide in them that can kill a mantid or make it sick if fed a feeder insect thats eaten one. I have no idea if it effects any other insect species the same way but its better to be safe then sorry. I have never heard of this anywhere else but a friend of mine told me this resently and he is somewhat of an expert when it comes to mantids so I trust him.
  7. Hi, I found this roach all by itself under a log in my back pasture, near Houston, Texas. Its right at 1" in length. Ive never seen one like it before around here and Im really curious as to what species it is, its a really good looking roach though, I wonder why it was all by itself. Thx!

Awsome roach! The pattern on its head reminds me of a mantids face.
