Preventing Lobster Roaches from Climbing

I've read about how you can "paint" a 3-4" stripe of vaseline around the top of your tank to prevent lobser roaches from escaping, and this is what I plan to do with some lobsters I just ordered.

But I have a question: can the roaches climb up the corners of the tank where silicone caulking is? Do I just make sure the corners are really slathered down with vaseline, or . . . ?

Yes they can, especially the littlest ones. That a big rubber road with traction to them. It's the theory that all are unable to pass that last 3 inch wide strip of slippery stuff. I just put a one inch strip and then four inches down in the corners. It looks better in an aquarium set up and catches less of the substrate during a change. If you tip the aquarium for some reason they will pile up and run right over that strip.
