I have several hundreds of these roaches, and they range from light brown to jet black. Are the colors genetic? I am thinking of making two seperate colonies, but not really sure if it will work or not?

Thanks,

James

Yes, it is genetic. The normal black death's head roaches breed true 100% of the time. However, you have a cross between two geographical races/varieties of B.craniifer or much less likely a hybrid between B.craniifer and B.fusca. If possible, you might consider feeding them off and starting with pure stock.

Black Death's Head roaches breed 100% true. Yours are an accidental cross, probably of varieties. It's ok to keep them but please make sure to let anyone you sell/trade them to that they aren't a pure stock so they won't be bred with good culture stock.

Happy Roach Keeping!
