jcv4200
Do B.lateralis bury their egg cases? I keep a colony of about 15 and I see when the female deposits the egg case but next day its gone!? I have seen about 3 egg cases disappear. No nymphs present either. Also is is possible that the colony is eating the egg cases? I am keeping them in a plastic container with about 1-inch of potting soil.
RosenKrieger
Since there is soil, they are probably burying them. The only reason they would eat them is if they were starving or overcrowded.
BugmanPrice
I have mine with substrate and they just drop and run. There are quite a few 'roaches in there as well and there is plenty of ootheca around for them to eat but they don't seem to. I always keep a supply of dog/cat/koi food in there for protein but if I didn't I imagine they might snack on a few.
