New guy, new roaches.

Haha, I sure did. Were you there?
I'm the one selling A. insignis, P. nivea and a bunch of other stuff there with my mantis buddy haha... Let me know if you have any questions in rearing them or if you've got a bias in sex ratio. Next time I may bring some Therea species too (my nymphs are mostly tiny now so I did not bring them, in case nobody would want them lol)

Haha, I figured you'd probably be on here. I'm pretty sure I bought every species ya had there! I mean it was my first chance to buy those species in person so I couldn't resist. I'd love to know what other species you're working with.

Yeah I should make a species list some time, I have around 30 roach species and a bunch of other inverts (including mantis and arachnids). I'm going to the April white plains expo again, so if you are interested to expand your collection feel free to PM me :) I really enjoy sharing my collection with people who love bugs, have experience and know what he is doing.

Welcome! If you've managed to breed D. lobata then I'm sure you'll be the master of cockroach in no time :)

What barrier are you using? I have a barrier of Vaseline and mineral oil mixture, and it always works good. (Occasionally escapes may take place in species like German or brown banded, but I guess you are not going to keep those lol)

Eublaberus are pretty smelly so get prepared :P And Therea is a must-have in the hobby!
I hadn't heard that about Eublaberus..I just ordered fifty ivory. Is it really bad, or controllable by regular cleaning? I've heard so much good stuff about these guys, that little tidbit never came up..

I read the ivories don't give off the defensive odors other eublaberus do. I have ivories and notice no bad smells.

I wish more people had roaches in my area. Not once have I ever seen anyone selling anything other than Blaptica dubia at any expo. I guess that means that when I start mass-breeding roaches I can monopolize the area :)

Same over here, though interestingly enough, one pet store here was selling peppered roaches a few years ago.

I feel really lucky that austin has a good exotics culture. I actually got back into roaches by tradeing art work for hissers at my local petstore.

Hey Mass, nice to see you over here! :D Again, glad your ivories made it safe and sound!
Hey man :) I actually lurk here a lot, browse a lot of old threads too. I see Entity here as well, there's actually a few of us over there that branch out. Its one of the reasons I like that forum. You never know when the topic will turn to mantids, or roaches, or true spiders or centipedes, etc. I was just checkin your Jerusalem Cricket post, very cool!

Yeah I've seen him around as well, the hobby of keeping invertebrates is so diverse that one forum can't do it justice, so lots of us end up joining several of them. :)

Thanks, they are one of my more interesting projects, one that I have been wanting to try for years. Hopefully I'll be successful with them! :D

wow , you just sorta jumped in head first!!!! lol ..... congrats on the species you have now , you got some cool ones.... welcome to the forum...
