FuzlBaby
Hi there! I have several different kinds of roaches, and would love more!!! Right now I have the Madagascar Hissing, Dubia, and Lobster roaches. I am not big on the 'scientific' names they are given, just the names commonly gone by! Kind of a nickname person! The only questions that I have as of yet.... How do you tell (with photos) a male from a female lobster??? What are all the roaches that give live birth??? Are pawmetto bugs roaches??? I am sure that other questions will pop up, but those are the best I can do for now. My favorite roach (for the moment) is my hissing roaches! I love how big they get and the fact that they make noise! Luv it!! (Yep, I am a girl....) Well I hope to learn more on this site, it was referred to me by a friend! Thanks!! Ralph
Welcome! I have some answers to your questions: 1. Female lobsters are typically larger than the males. 2. The roaches in the family Blaberidae give live birth. 3. "Palmetto bug" is a colloquial name given to the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) and the Florida Stinking Roach (Eurycotis floridana), among others. Allpet Roaches
Welcome aboard! Another way to tell lobster adults apart it by a look at the last segments of the abdomen. If there's a large plate it's a female, if it ends in a small segment it's a male.
