Substrate for Polyphagid roaches

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I just received some very small Egyptian sand roach nymphs( about a couple millimeters long) and wanted to know if I can keep them in a small container that is slightly more than an inch deep? Also do I mix the dead leaves into the substrate or do I put a layer on the bottom of dead leaves and then put some substrate over it?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's probably OK. Once they get bigger you would need to move them though. I put my leaves on top of the substrate, if I mix it in the roaches burrowing habits make them rise to the top of the substrate anyway.
