    Sorry. I’ve been on vacation in Florida.(I saw two Florida woods cockroaches!) Well... I’m back now! It turns out Layla’s ootheca has hatched! Yay!!! We officially have nymphs! I was very worried about one of the adults eating the egg case, but thankfully that never happened (um.... duh!) I found another cockroach lover named Joey who has become a good friend of mine. He will join our forum soon! Anyway, Marcus killed a few of his children. The rest are very healthy, tiny, and super cute! Hope everyone here is enjoying summer.

    I’ll sometimes feed them Blue Buffalo cat food that I feed my cats. Never tried chick feed before...

    BTW I own P. Americana great to hear that was a myth. They’ve actually warmed up to my presence now and let me handle them without a treat.

    Rabbit food does not meet most cockroach’s needs, since rabbits are entirely herbivorous. I’m glad you are providing a variety for a good diet maybe some fresh fruit now and then?

    Interesting! My P. Americana are protein addicts, but they LOVE bananas. Please tell me how they like it.

    This is off topic, but I saw some random cartoon in which people called insects “inferior six-legged rat” That was the angriest I’ve ever been ?. Now it’s hilarious how much I hate that show now. Ha

    My P. Americana wouldn’t dare leave their home.... there’s no strawberries, banana, or cooked chicken OUTSIDE. Ha. Really though... cockroaches spend more time cleaning themselves than most animals, so gross is just derogatory. BTW, that man who saved the Australian cockroach... well God bless him!

    Hey guys! I just found this funny cartoon with some cockroach characters! Sure, the roaches are sort of “villains” and are depicted as gross.... but it made me smile. Also check it out if you like cats. It’s called Oggy and the Cockroaches.

    Agreed. Some “experts” are just myth machines. BTW I eat lunch right before i come home... I didn’t think of that before! She prolly just wants to eat. (As usual)

    My girl Layla seems to know my scent, and when I walk up to her, her antennae go crazy! It seems weird, considering that cockroaches really have an awful memory from what I have heard. Does she smell something she likes on me? I set up a camera to see what she does when I am NOT around. Well, she is just her usual self. Is she “bonding” to me?

    Yeah... my American cockroaches become a lot less active in any light at all... but hey! They’re a completely different species so just leave me out.

    Good luck to you!! My female and male mated last night, and now Layla is nymph bound. Marcus is being a typical dad. LAZY. I’m letting them crawl on me while I type. Layla is gonna be a great mom I would post a pic of Marcus on my head.... but I am not revealing my face, thank you.

    Guess what, you fantastic cockroach lovers!!! Last night, I heard a lot of ruckus from my roach’s cute little abode. I (very dazed and sleepy) looked at the clock after a loud scrambling sound woke me up....3 AM... UGH. I stumbled over to the exhibit, and was shocked to what I found. Marcus (my desperate male) and Layla ( my grumpy female) were FINALLY mating!!! I popped out of my 3 AM trance and did a little jig. OKAY. I did not actually do a jig... We’re going to have nymphs, everybody!!!
