Could surinam infest others species

Gonyosoma

Ootheca
Hi im new here !

I have a breeding rack of discoid and produce a good amount of them and rely on them to sell as feeders. I have recently aquired a colony of surinam roaches wich im being carefull to not let any escape while working in the bins but they are still quite fast and small so im worried if a female made its way in one of my discoid tub it could potentialy start breeding in there ? My discoids are being kept on dry coco coir and low humidity so i doubt they would but im still a bit worried.

It is a possibility. If they are indeed Pycnoscelus surinamensis they are parthenogenic and very prolific.

They are p.surinamensis. They can survive in dry condition ?
Dry is relative. Everyone has different humidity levels in their houses. Some people have success while others fail using exact same setup and care but different room humidity.
You might try setting up a few under exact care as the discoids and see if they survive. It is hard to know for certain without trying. Surinams can be hardy.

I might try that yes.
But im starting to think it wasnt a great idea to bring them into the room i cant really afford to lose my discoid colonies.

Most species can get into other cages and thrive if not secured. The tropical species mostly eat the same foods and live in similar conditions.
