Gromphadorhina portentosa "Masoala, Madagascar"

A new, PURE strain of G.portentosa, cultured for a long time by a Belgium insectarium and kept separate from other hisser strains (though apparently the locality info for this strain might be erroneous, since Masoala is outside the known range of this species). In any case, a very pretty strain, a bit more black patterning on the abdomens than is typical of pure "Cleveland Aquarium" portentosa stock, and a few of the adults females are a beautiful cherry red color.

Hopefully these breed well for me, would love to establish some more pure portentosa in the US hobby! 😁

Yup, she's quite gravid, and will hopefully give birth soon! 😄 Yeah the coloration on this stocks is very nice IMO.

I've had some major males pop in the culture, and not only are they huge, but their coloration is stunning too. 😍
