Allpet Roaches
For fun, for a nominal fee, I do bug exhibits a couple times a year for a botanical garden bug event and two northern Ohio metroparks bug events (the one last month had 5,800 visitors). For the last 10-12 years as part of the display I have included a "cockroach petting zoo" -along with the various invert displays. The petting zoo is just a plastic shoebox with some small petting zoo signs. Originally hissing cockroaches were employed but were switched over to death's head cockroaches on the second year because the hissing roaches climb out of the cage and require constant supervision. The cockroach petting zoo is probably the most popular part of the display and certainly the most interactive!

Chris Driggers
I do an exotic animal exhibit every memorial day for a troop of Boy Scouts, I usually don't take very much, 5-6 snakes, a bearded dragon, 2-4 tarantulas, a couple of scorpions, and acolony or 2 of roaches. the roaches usually go over really well. crittergu
Wow that is a great idea...and I'm sure the kids think so too. It might be cool to include several different species for the kid to play with.
Keith
Sounds like a fun idea, I hope more events/zoos could do the same.
