Hornet
I was looking on a site ages ago but cant remember it but it had pics of a roach that rolls into a ball much like a pill millipede for defence. Any idea what genus they are in?

Matt K
Hi! Trichoblatta sp. Best wishes Fredrik Actually, it is probably one of a dozen species of Perisphaerus. Probably Perispaerus semilunatus. All are typical to the Phillipines, but are also known in other parts of Asia.
Allpet Roaches
The only species I've seen pictures of is Trichoblatta pygmaea from Japan (there are also a few photos in the Allpet Roaches book of this species). It's a pretty small cockroach but I'm sure anyone here would love to have that species in culture.
Fredrik
I have had the opportunity to have both Trichoblatta pygmae and Trichoblatta nigra (90% sure about the ID, but I hope I'll have a defenitve answer soon) for a short period of time and they are as beautiful as they are in the photos. Best wishes Fredrik

For that matter, would love to see some in person..
Fredrik
I only had the Trichoblatta for a couple of weeks until I could hand them over to my friend. I am sorry, but I didn't take any photos. I think I know what a few of you are thinking right now, hmm, no photos, nothing to back this up, man, he's making this up. Well, I'm not, and remember, finding new species were a part of my business a few years back, that was my "trade mark". Best wishes Fredrik
Roachsmith
Wow. Those are neat! I've never seen them before but I just looked up some pics. The variety of different roaches still amazes me. I had no idea there were "rolly polly" roaches. Maybe we will have them in the US one day.
